We've been looking to provide a higher-quality, spam-free experience at the plugins site for some time, and a major error on our part forced us to shut down the current site before we could put the new one in place. We are developing a new site, and you can follow along with its development on GitHub. customize query URL parameter

This plugin provides many options to customize but if you query autocomplete values via ajax the query parameter is hard-coded as "q" (search for "q: lastWord(term)"). You can easily provide another option like "queryParameter" to customize this.
Even better was to additionally automatic detection of query parameter via specification of an URL template like "url: 'http://example.com?q={QUERY}'.
