Here are the patches I'm using on my local copy of jquery.autogrow. With these patches, plus using padding:0;border:0; on the textarea, I find it's more stable and predictable than the original, and it knows precisely when to add another line. I also added an ``open blank line on focus'' feature which I think is expressive/nicelooking, and also helps when you are trying to select all the text inside a textarea. Also I started with the live-example hosted copy of jquery.autogrow because it contained a min-height check at the top which is missing from the downloadable copy.
