We've been looking to provide a higher-quality, spam-free experience at the plugins site for some time, and a major error on our part forced us to shut down the current site before we could put the new one in place. Selecting a value from a dropdown does not fire validation.

When validating text inputs, after an attempted form submit, validation is re-run on each keyup to determine if a valid value exists. In select boxes and single single select boxes (drop downs) re-validation only occurs on blur. This is a problem, as a user who makes a valid choice gets no feedback that he has made the form valid and is inconsistent with text input fields.

Fixed in http://code.google.com/p/bassistance-plugins/source/detail?r=44
The fix was tested in FF 3.0.x, IE6, Opera 9.x and Safari 3 and 4. Safari doesn't provide a click event on selects, so there it still doesn't work.
Fix will be included in upcoming 1.6 release.
